Photography Highlights in 2016

This year is truly flying by; we’re fast approaching the second half of 2017 and the flurry of the wedding season is coming to an end. It has been a great start to the year, and I’m feeling reflective on how lucky I am to enjoy my job this much. In fact, it hardly feels like a job at all when you’re doing what you love.

Last year had some wonderful highlights for me and I haven’t had the chance to share them. While each and every project is special to me, a few events have really stood out. I was lucky enough to be featured on respected blogs like Aisle Society, as well as be interviewed by The Polka Dot Bride… plus I got to shoot events for Lenzo. See my favourite moments below.

Features:

Kait and Andrew’s engagement photography session was a featured post entitled Woodland Love Story on Polka Dot Bride, which was an honour for me. This engagement shoot was set in Woodend and the images look like something out of a fairy tale. Kait looked stunning wearing a flowery crown and a delicate lace dress. While the feature focused on styling, photography, wedding dress and flowers, they also shared the beautiful story of how they met and fell in love. This then got picked up as a feature on Aisle Society as well, which I appreciate so much!

They’ve also featured my wedding photography shoot for Mick and Georgia. Polka Dot Bride’s Outdoor Macedon Ranges Wedding post was also a highlight for me. They reached out to gorgeous newlywed Georgia, who described her wedding day so beautifully. This collaboration was so much fun and I was so excited to be mentioned on their blog. Thank you to the lovely team at Polka Dot Bride for reaching out to me!

Connections:

Being in the wedding industry, I have come to meet and work alongside so many talented people. A few of us have worked together more than once and we bounce off each other effortlessly. Because we have so much respect for each other, we provide recommendations to our clients with no hesitation. Lisa Hunt-Wotton and I have both written and praised each other on our blogs; her post called What to Look for in a Photographer was really touching, Thanks so much for giving me a mention! A few others I’ve loved working with time and time again have been Thrive Flowers and gorgeous wedding planner Vanessa Rossini.

Interviews:

As previously mentioned, I have come to form a lovely relationship with Polka Dot Bride. They graciously interviewed me at the end of last year in their Interview with the Experts section. We discussed my passion for photography and how my business has grown over the last ten years. I also shared my top tips I have for brides prior to a shoot with me: be yourself and enjoy your day! It was such a fun interview and you can read it here.

Events:

A few times last year, I worked alongside the amazing LENZO, who specialise in events. A day that stands out to me especially was the Shweppes Birdcage Marquee with LENZO set at the Spring Racing Carnival. Upon arrival I was amazed at the set-up; amazing smells filled the marquee. We got to try so many amazing cocktails that day, all made with delicious Schweppes mixers. All of the images turned out so bright and colourful; it was so much fun to shoot!

I’d like to thank everyone who made last year so special to me. I look back on these highlights so fondly and can hardly wait for what this year has in store!

Much love,
